Christmas Carol at Yoyogi Park

Christmas Carol at Yoyogi Park

Longtime residents in Tokyo will already know by now that Yoyogi Park is a haven for the fun and the fantastic. On the weekends, artists abound, sharing their crafts and growing their audiences. From drum circles to comedians, and the all-too-famous rockabilly gang hanging around the park entrance every Sunday. We here at The Tokyo Life are also happy to share that a special Christmas carol takes place at Yoyogi Park every year, just before the holidays.

This year, on December 15th, Global Language Institute’s own Namiko will be hosting her annual caroling event for the third year running.

If you’re feeling a little bit homesick, or even just missing that Christmas magic you’ve grown up knowing, then why not share your voice and talents with these merry band of carolers? As we quoted from Buddy the Elf in our Top 7 Christmas Movies list, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

The event is open to anyone and everyone who want to join or watch. Rehearsals will start at 3:00 pm on the same day, and the performance will be about an hour later at 4:15 pm, ending at around 5:00 pm.

Be sure to bundle up and bring a hot drink with you!

The park is accessible through Yoyogi Station on the JR Yamanote Line and the Meiji-jingūmae Station on the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line. The group for the Christmas carol will meet by the entrance to Yoyogi Park, where the rockabilly gang performs so you can’t miss it. Two great shows for the price of none (except your train ride, of course), what’s a better Christmas gift than that?
